Honduras Mission Trip
|
July 26th - August 3rd
Ciudad Espaņa was built by the Red Cross of Spain for families who were displaced by Hurricane Mitch, and is located in the Amarateca Valley, about a 45-minute drive from the capital city of Tegucigalpa.
Church Building
Ciudad Espaņa is home to one of the newest Methodist congregations in Honduras. Each week more than 200 men, women and children gather outside for worship and Bible study, because there is not a single church building in the community. Church of the Resurrection has taken on the exciting challenge of joining with the United Methodist Mission Church of Honduras to construct the first church building in Ciudad Espaņa, a building that will provide worship and education space for this rapidly growing congregation.
Since April of 2005, Church of the Resurrection has sent teams to Honduras, each for a week at a time. Team members work along side Hondurans and do not require building experience or expertise. This summer, rezlife will join with our church family to participate in the building of this body of believers.
Community Building
During our time in Ciudad Espaņa, you will meet many of the wonderful children of the community and their families. During our stay, we will also reach out to the community through children's activities, sporting activities, and drama ministry. What a blessing it is to see Christ transforming the lives of this community and our own lives. This is an experience that will make a difference for God's kingdom and impact your heart, mind, and spirit.
